HI, IT’S ME, TANYA!
Most people assume I had a background in makeup or tattooing before I started microblading. The truth? I had zero professional experience and never even considered myself particularly creative. Before microblading, my career was in property management, and prior to that, I was a team leader in a call center. I liked wearing makeup, but I wasn’t good at it — especially brow makeup. My eyebrows were the classic pencil-thin disaster. Then a friend mentioned microblading. I was amazed. I thought, “This is the evolution of eyebrow tattoos!” Microblading is truly life-changing for so many people, but at the time, it felt completely out of reach for me.
I was working full-time for a company delivering bad news on behalf of my boss, and I wasn’t making enough money to even afford microblading for myself. Living in British Columbia, I knew I had to make a change if I ever wanted to own a home or save for my future children’s activities. I spent a year exploring every entrepreneurial idea I could imagine. Then a friend mentioned microblading again. Something clicked. I was already fascinated by it, and suddenly it felt like the perfect path forward.
Within just three days, I requested a week off from work and used the money I had saved for a replacement vehicle as a deposit for a microblading course.
I had only ever taken one microblading course — in Toronto, back in 2016 — and I sucked. I messed up, cried, and nearly didn’t show up for the final day of training. But I pushed through. I imagined needing years of part-time work to gain experience, but just a few months later, I rented a small room in a hair salon for $400 per month, advertised on Craigslist, and booked my first 12 paying clients. I applied to a well-known microblading studio, got hired, and quit my full-time job. Six months after completing my course, I was a full-time microblading artist. I never looked back. I saved half of every paycheck, and two years later, I purchased my own property — entirely on my own.
The message I want to share with you is simple: don’t settle. If you’re unhappy in your current situation and want something more, go for it. If you can imagine it, you can make it happen. As the years pass, my goals and dreams keep growing, and I know yours can too.
You deserve it all — and it all starts with one choice.

There are a few options for finding a place to work after taking a microblading course:
Look for a bed rental or contract with an already established business like a beauty salon, microblading studio, or tattoo shop - this is highly recommended for saving overhead costs and gaining experience in the industry.
Establish a home based business. Please check with your local business licensing branch to confirm eligibility for home-based businesses in your area.
Lease a commercial/retail/office space - this is not recommended for those with a clientele base than can afford overhead costs and are ready to grow their business.
-
A license or certification is not required to perform microblading services. However, most businesses will not hire or contract a person without prior training and/or experience.
The certificate provided to you upon completion of this course is a document proving that you received professional training from an accredited and insured business owner.
-
Absolutely not!
The biggest piece of advice that I can give to anyone looking to learn microblading is;
to search for an artist that produces work and results that you love! Learn from that artist, because each artist will only be able to teach you what they know how to do.
It is worth the wait, travel, or whatever it be to learn from someone that you want to work just like.
-
If you choose to start a home-based business or rent a commercial space, you will need to apply for a business license and complete a health inspection by your local health authority.
Every city and municipality will have their own requirements. Refer to your local business-licensing branch for more information by visiting their website.
-
Yes. It is recommended to practice with at least five people that you know to gain experience working with client’s.
Most microblading artists charge between $200 - $600 per session and do two services per day. A microblading artist can comfortably complete up to 4 sessions per day with a full schedule. New artists typically charge half the cost of the average rates while they continue to improve their skills and build their portfolios.
-
Nope. Anyone can take this course. If you are eager to learn and willing to put the work in, the completion of this course will prepare you for a successful career as a Microblading Artist.
